Text Dictation – Several villages of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh have been marooned and road and communication links cut-off following heavy rains for the past few days. Major rivers like Godavari, Nagavali and Vamsadhara are in spate. District authorities are gearing up for emergency evacuation as several rivers are flowing at dangerous levels. In Telangana, danger warning No-1 was issued at Bhadrachalam of Khamma district as water level in River Godavari crossed 45 feet last evening. In Srikakulam district of Andhra Pradesh, Vamsadhara River is in spate following heavy rains in upper catchment areas in Odisha.
Authorities have issued danger warning No-2 near Gotta barrage and released more than one lakh cusecs of flood water downstream from the barrage. The Supreme Court will today hear the new affidavit attaching the list of 2G scam accused who had visited CBI Director Ranjit Sinha at his residence. On Thursday, the Supreme Court had refused Sinha’s plea to restrain media from broadcasting and publishing news stories on the basis of the visitors list. A bench headed by Justice HL Dattu had said that it had gone through the documents and it is desirable that they be placed on affidavit. The affidavit was filed by lawyer Prashant Bhushan. Bhushan had earlier told the Apex court that agency’s Director is being influenced by the accused companies in the 2G scam.
The Trinamool Congress, TMC has decided to file a complaint against BJP President Amit Shah for violation of election Model code of conduct. TMC Vice President and MP Sudeep Bandyopadhyay alleged in Kolkata yesterday that when Model code of conduct is in force in parts of Kolkata for an Assembly by-election, Mr Shah stayed in a Central Government guest house and had meeting with party functionaries. The bi-elections in two assembly seats in West Bengal will take place on 13th of this month.
Reacting to BJP President Amit Shah’s charges, the Secretary General of the Trinamool Congress Partho Chatterjee said that the Saradha Chit Fund scam had taken place during the previous Left Front Government rule when his party had no control over it. Mr Chatterjee said that now it is clear that BJP is using the CBI in Saradha Chit Fund probe for political purposes. He also said that the BJP is trying to play communal politics in the State.
Addressing a public rally in Kolkata yesterday, Amit Shah had criticised Chief Minister Ms. Mamata Banerjee for her inaction over the scam in which about 17 lakh people have been affected. He called for proper Parivartan to bring development in the state as the people are frustrated with the Trinamool Congress.
In Pakistan, the dialogue between the government and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf committees was held in Islamabad last night. After the meeting, Finance Minister Ishaq Dar said that both sides are working to defuse tension. He said, the talks will resume today.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader Shah Mehmood Qureshi said, meaningful dialogue is underway to reach on an agreement. He said that modalities are being finalized.
